The Mike Stern Quintet headlined The Institute’s 34th annual Jazz Festival at The Wharf in Quincy Township Aug. 24 attended by 300 people. Hosted by Buttonwood Nature Center, Home of The Institute, the free event showcased the six-time Grammy-nominated guitarist Mike Stern, whose style blends bebop finesse with rock intensity, honed through collaborations with legends like Miles Davis and the Brecker Brothers. Other performers included Leni Stern on guitar, Bob Franceschini on saxophone, Edmond Gilmore on bass and Juan Chiavassa on drums. The festival was moved inside the barn at The Wharf after it rained.
