GUILFORD TOWNSHIP – An alert from a nearby golfer may have saved residents of a home on St. Annes Drive in Guilford Township Saturday after the solar panels atop the home caught fire just before noon.
Fire and area media reports said the golfer called in the fire, which the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department handled. A mother and her son were in the home at the time but escaped safely. And the fire did extend to part of the roof but not into the home.
Dispatch says crews cleared the scene around 1:15 p.m. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
