FAYETTEVILLE— Totem Pole Playhouse opens its 75th Anniversary Season with “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” a Broadway hit that traces the rise of music legend Carole King. The production, running for 20 performances from Aug. 8, 2025, brings King’s story to life with iconic songs like “You’ve Got a Friend,” “One Fine Day,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
The musical follows King’s journey from a teenage songwriter to a chart-topping artist, capturing her triumphs, struggles, and resilience. Audiences will experience her creative partnerships, personal heartbreaks, and groundbreaking success through a vibrant score and dynamic storytelling.
Hannah Taylor stars as Carole King, reprising her role from the national tour of “Little Women.” She is joined by John Ashley Brown as Gerry Goffin, Amy Decker as Cynthia Weil, and Jason Cohen as Barry Mann. The ensemble, featuring over 30 local and regional cast and crew, delivers powerhouse vocals and energetic choreography.
Directed and choreographed by Christine O’Grady, with music direction by Darren Server, the production boasts scenic design by Jim Fouchard, costumes by Azaria Jade Rubio, and lighting by Ryan B. Gibbs. “This show is about finding your voice,” said Gibbs, Totem Pole’s artistic director. “Carole King’s music resonates with everyone—it’s a celebration of her legacy.”
