Waynesboro Summer Jubilee draws crowds for July 4th

WAYNESBORO – The annual Summer Jubilee transformed Main Street into a festive hub for the Fourth of July, drawing families and visitors for a full day of patriotic celebration. The event kicked off early with the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at 7:15 a.m., followed by the Firecracker 5K Race at 7:40 a.m., energizing the crowd and setting a lively tone for the day.

Among the highlights was the presence of young entrepreneurs in the kids’ craft vendor section. Jack and Maybel, a brother-sister team known as the Thirst Lemonators, stood out with their vibrant lemonade stand. They offered a wide variety of lemonade flavors, sandwiches, T-shirts, and other treats. The siblings manage every aspect of the business themselves and are saving up for a treehouse with their earnings. Their entrepreneurial spirit and friendly service left a strong impression on festival-goers, who could also follow their journey on their Facebook page, Thirst Lemonators. The duo also do catering.

Throughout the day, the festival featured bounce houses, games and a bustling craft and food vendor market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 4th of July Parade, organized by Brio, marched through downtown at 9:30 a.m., followed by a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m.. Live entertainment filled the afternoon and evening, with performances by Ray Owen, Mockingbird, Big Chalk and the Clay Band.

As dusk settled, Rich Fehle took the stage, and the night concluded with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky above 500 E. Main St. The Summer Jubilee once again proved to be a cornerstone of Waynesboro’s community spirit, blending tradition, local talent, and youthful innovation into a memorable Independence Day celebration.
