Robert Charles Conner, born on July 5, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at the age of 84. A dedicated public servant, Robert served honorably as a police officer with the New York City Police Department. His commitment to duty extended beyond his law enforcement career, as he was also an active member of the Kings Park Fire Department, exemplifying his dedication to the community throughout his life. As a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, Robert served from 1963-1975 and earned the rank of "Technical Sergeant". In 1977 he enlisted in the 106th Air National Guard, serving in the Crash Rescue Unit at West Hampton Beach Airport where he earned the rank of "Master Sergeant" until his honorable discharge in 1988. His time in service instilled in him values of integrity, discipline, and unwavering commitment, traits which shaped his character and influenced him personally and professionally. Robert was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife, Mary Conner, and lovingly remembered by his children, Michael Conner and Beth Fierstien (David) of Virginia. He also leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Max, Skylar, Sierra, and Savannah. Step children: Jesse, Patrick(Courtney), Melva(Michael), James(Rachel) and eight step grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his brother, Dennis Conner of Tennessee and four nieces, Erin, Meredith, Susan and Shannon. Robert was preceded in death by: His parents Charles and Mary Conner and his loving wife of 56 years, Gail Conner. A visitation will be held at Sellers Funeral Home on July 7, 2025, at 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on July 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Robert will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, with burial taking place at 1:00 PM. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and commitment that will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
