CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Fair will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a week of community events, agricultural showcases and family entertainment from Sunday, July 6, through Saturday, July 12, at 3725 Warm Spring Road.
The fair, a staple of summer in Chambersburg since 1965, will open with a Vespers Service led by Grand Point Church at 7 p.m. Sunday. The milestone event promises six nights of festivities, including contests, live music and traditional fair food, running nightly from 7 to 10 p.m.
Admission is free all week, with parking available for $5 per car Monday through Thursday and $20 per car Friday and Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome for $10 per person. Registered service animals are permitted, but pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds.
A highlight of the fair is the Baby Barnyard, where visitors can meet and learn about baby farm animals under the tent. Exhibitors are invited to showcase their best in hay, grain, home and dairy products, fruits, vegetables, needlecraft, photography and handcrafts, with a chance to win blue ribbons and Best of Show honors.
Youth and open livestock shows for dairy, beef, sheep and goats are scheduled throughout the week, including 4-H competitions and the Youth Dairy Showmanship Contest. The fair’s royalty tradition continues as six young women are crowned to represent Franklin County agriculture and the fair for the coming year.
Family-friendly entertainment includes children’s inflatables, a pedal pull, barnyard olympics, karaoke, and performances by Shane the Balloon Guy & Magician. Evening events feature live music, truck and tractor pulls, antique tractor displays, and Bullride Mania. Saturday’s lineup includes the Ag Knowledge Bowl and a youth animal dress-up contest.
