County salutes law enforcement

CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Commissioners have proclaimed May 15-21, 2022, to be National Police Week in Franklin County, a time to recognize the extraordinary efforts and risks law enforcement officers take to safeguard residents and communities.

“By working to keep residents healthy and safe, Franklin County police officers go a long way to ensuring the happiness, prosperity and well-being of local communities,” said Commissioner and Board Chairman Dave Keller. “These men and women risk their own personal safety on a daily basis to protect schools, homes, workplaces and roads across Franklin County. They are leaders and teachers, educating citizens of all ages and backgrounds on the importance of public safety.”

Locally, Franklin County is served by five municipal police departments, three school police departments, one university department and a Pennsylvania State Police barracks. Many retired police officers, who put their lives on the line during their careers, also call Franklin County home.

By declaring May 15-21, 2022, to be National Police Week in Franklin County, the Franklin County Commissioners are calling upon all residents to show their support and appreciation for all local law enforcement and the work they do.
