CHAMBERSBURG – WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has received the top ranking of all hospitals in Pennsylvania for critical care, according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians, and health systems. The hospital is also among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for critical care for five years in a row (2018-2022).

In February the hospital received the distinguished honor of being one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award for the second year in a row, recognizing it as being in the top two percent of hospitals in the country.
In terms of the hospital achieving the No. 1 ranking of all hospitals in Pennsylvania, Healthgrades evaluated Medicare inpatient records for nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide to assess hospital performance. The ranking for critical care is determined by analysis of patient outcomes in treating pulmonary embolism, respiratory system failure, sepsis, and diabetic emergencies.
