A Cappella & Unplugged 2023: Meet Finalist Robert Twine

CHAMBERSBURG– July 15 is the final round of the A Cappella & Unplugged 2023 competition. Five finalist–Elijah Myers, Paul Minnich, Robert Twine, The RMS Experience, and Marrisa Porter–will take to the steps of the Franklin County Courthouse to perform two songs and vie for the $500 grand prize.

“Franklin County Visitors Bureau (FCVB) is excited to host the 9th year of A Cappella & Unplugged. Every year, the competition showcases amazing talent, but this year is exceptional. Come see for yourself and be part of selecting the winner,” said Evan Crider, Tourism Associate, who coordinates the event for FCVB.

Franklin County Visitors Bureau invites the public to meet 2023 finalist Robert Twine of Mercersburg. Twine has been a contestant in the A Cappella & Unplugged competition multiple times and a finalist once before. His musical journey began at the age of 10 on the piano, but with reluctance and lack of enjoyment. However, when he turned 15, all of that changed. Today, when asked what music means to him and how it has affected his life, he said, “Music is a way of expressing feelings that cannot be easily put into words. Music has a collective of meanings to me. It’s an aphrodisiac, a drug, a joy, a pain, a pleasure, a connection to the unconscious, a life saver, a way of articulating thoughts and feelings that may not ever find expression otherwise. Music has given me a great emotional outlet and a great source of service to others.” In response to why he enjoys performing, Twine said, “I love challenging myself to do things that are a bit scary.  I love creating joy for others. It also feels great when people share their experience of my performing.”

Robert Twine and other finalists perform at the Franklin County Courthouse on the square in Chambersburg on July 15th at 7pm. The winner of the competition will be chosen by the public with an in-person ballot and a text-in option.

Attendance at the 2023 A Cappella & Unplugged is free. Bring a chair. Enjoy the talent of A Cappella & Unplugged and stay for the living history and light show of the 1864 Ransoming, Burning & REBIRTH.
