WAYNESBORO – On Tuesday, May 16, Franklin County residents will head to the polls to cast their votes for candidates in a variety of judicial and local races in the Municipal Primary. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In Pennsylvania, there are two open seats on the Superior Court, one on Commonwealth Court, and one on the Supreme Court. In addition, voters will cast ballots in a wide range of local races, including:

- You must register before the primary in order to vote. Deadline: Monday, May 1, 2023. *Postmarks will not be accepted.
- Last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot: Tuesday, May 9, 2023. *Postmarks will not be accepted.
- Last day to receive voted mail-in or absentee ballots: Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
In order to vote, you must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the election.
- Be a resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register and vote for at least 30 days before the election.
- If you are registered to a third party or no party at all, you will not be allowed to vote for judicial candidates. In order to participate in a party’s primary, you must submit your party registration on or before May 1.
