Go Fly a Kite at The Institute

WAYNESBORO—Celebrate National Kite Month with The Institute’s annual Kite Fly on Saturday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the field adjacent to Hooverville Elementary School in Waynesboro. There is no fee for flying, and everyone is welcome. Participants should bring their own kites.

Brothers George and Sam Adams of Chambersburg return this year as “kite masters” and will offer free individual instruction, demonstrations of kite flying techniques, and a kite-making workshop.

“We hope kids and adults stop by and build their own kite. It is fun to do, and these small handmade kites really fly well,” Sam Adams said. There is a $1 donation to cover materials.

Those attending can enter a raffle drawing for a free fox kite. The raffle is free to enter, one entry per person. Drawing at 2 p.m. Need not be present to win.

The first 10 families to arrive get a free book, “I Wonder Why the Wind Blows” by Anita Ganeri.
