WASHS Choir to perform at Carnegie Hall

WAYNESBORO—The Waynesboro Area Senior High School Chamber Choir will perform a set of pieces solo at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m.

The concert the group is performing is entitled, “Way Over in Beulah Land: A Choral Concert Featuring the Works of Stacey Gibbs”.

“The choir had the honor of workshopping our last piece, ‘Roll, Jordan, Roll’ with Mr. Gibbs, the arranger,” said Andrew Vensel, vocal music instructor and choir director.

WASHS Chamber Choir will perform “Non Nobis, Domine” by Rosephanye Powell, “To Sit and Dream” by Rosephanye Powell, “I Dream a World” by André Thomas, and “Roll, Jordan, Roll” arr. Stacey V. Gibbs.

In addition, a grand finale, featuring all of the choirs in attendance of “Way Over in Beulah Lan'” arr. Stacey V. Gibbs.  

Carnegie Hall is a world-renowned concert hall located in New York City. Opened in 1891, it was built by Andrew Carnegie and has since become an iconic symbol of excellence in classical music and performance.

The Waynesboro Area Senior High School Chamber Choir is an elite group of singers from grades 10-12 and offers a variety of learning experiences.

Singers study challenging secular and sacred musical selections from various genres and time periods.

The Chamber Choir performs an annual winter program, one or more spring programs, and appears regularly throughout the greater Waynesboro community.

Participation in this event is made possible by community donations, the WASHS music booster organization (WASBA), and through the support of family and friends.

The choir’s performance roster includes: Aidan Coulter, Aria Roell, Autumn Scahill, Brenna Dill, Cassidy Wheeler, Chloe Keckler, Emma Coulter, Emmalee Bechtel, Harmoniee Wong, Jakub Oslik, Jonathan Horvath, Kaelin Bowie, Kathryn Cieri, Kellen Stevens, Madelyn Stoops, Mariah Fortney, Nora Dickey, Sara Policicchio, Sierra Mankins, Zelie Musolino, Zoe Tosten; Mrs. Brenda Slick, pianist.
