CHAMBERSBURG – Chambersburg Community Theatre will open its 2025–2026 season with a production of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” directed by Mat Levine, and is inviting local actors to audition for roles in this powerful drama.
Open auditions will be held at the Wood Center at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. Auditions are open to all individuals who can portray the ages of the characters in the story, regardless of experience level.
Auditionees should plan to stay for the full two-hour session, though they may not be needed for the entire duration. All participants are required to prepare a 45-second dramatic monologue that is not from “The Diary of Anne Frank.” In addition to the prepared monologue, cold readings from the script will be part of the audition process.
Those auditioning should also bring a list of any rehearsal conflicts, based on the provided schedule. Conflicts not submitted at the time of auditions will not be accepted later, except in cases of emergency, such as illness or funerals.
Rehearsals are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 28, 29, 31; Aug. 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 28; and Sept. 2 and 4. Additional rehearsals will be held Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 17 and 24 from 3 to 7 p.m., and Aug. 31 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tech week will run Sept. 6–10, with rehearsals beginning at 6 p.m. No conflicts will be accepted for tech week.
For those unable to attend in person, video auditions may be submitted to [email protected] and must include the required monologue. However, video submissions will be considered last, as they do not allow for cold readings. Attending a live, in-person audition is strongly encouraged unless absolutely unavoidable.
