Mechatronics students tour area workforce partners

CHAMBERSBURG – Franklin County Career and Technology Center’s mechatronics students took their classroom learning to the next level this May with visits to two local industry partners.

Led by instructor Dan Stockman, the group toured Pete & Gerry’s, a leading egg producer known for preparing and packaging 3 million eggs daily. Students received a guided tour from Troy “the egg man” and Ethan Brechbill, learning about the facility’s upcoming upgrade that will add two Kawasaki robots and boost production by 1 million eggs each day.

The tour offered students an up-close look at the technology that keeps the operation running. It also highlighted the technical skills needed to maintain and troubleshoot advanced robotics systems.

The group also visited Sesco in Mont Alto, a manufacturer of wire harnesses used worldwide. There, students reconnected with CareerTech Cooperative Education students and alumni, who are putting their training to work at the facility.

These visits are part of the center’s ongoing effort to connect students with real-world applications of mechatronics and to strengthen partnerships with local employers. The hands-on experiences help prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing and automation.
