Central Pennsylvania is facing a critical shortage of O-negative blood after trauma cases depleted supplies across the region. More than 235 units of O-negative blood have been used in just two weeks, more than double the typical demand.
To address the urgent need, the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will hold a blood drive Tuesday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Waynesboro Area YMCA, 810 E. Main St. The event will take place in the Teen Room.
All donors will receive a Harrisburg Senators ticket voucher, valid for any 2025 regular season home game, and a $10 certificate toward a $40 purchase at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House.
Appointments are encouraged and can be made online or by calling 1-800-771-0059. Walk-ins are also welcome, but donors with appointments will be taken first. A form of identification is required to donate.
Organizers stress that every donation counts and can help save lives in the local community.
