John A. Ile, Jr., of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on February 2, 1936, in Chambersburg, PA to the late John A. Ile, Sr. and Ruth S. (Kuhn) Ile.

John was a 1954 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, 1972 graduate of Shippensburg State College, and 1976 graduate of Gettysburg Seminary. He was a dairy farmer until he was 33 years old and then pursued ministry. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg as well as Susquehanna United Methodist Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served as the Treasurer of the Fruitbelt Farmworker Christian Ministry.

He is survived by his daughter LuAnn Mason (Robert) of Chambersburg, PA; son Irwin A. “Ike” Ile of Greencastle, PA; grandchildren Eric Ile (Abigail), Trevor Ile (Allie), Jessica Nickolson (Jordan), and Emily Oberle (Kyle); great-grandchildren Brooks, Grace, Peyton, and Parker; and sister Relda Stoops of Newburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Anna Mae (Peiper) Ile, who passed away on July 17, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Mark Terwilliger officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201, or to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
