GREENCASTLE – Green Grove Gardens welcomed hundreds of visitors Saturday and Sunday for its annual flea market, offering a wide variety of goods, food and entertainment. The event, organized by Duane and Tonya Pilkerton, featured as many as 500 vendors scheduled to participate, though some withdrew Saturday due to rain.
Despite the weather, the market buzzed with activity Sunday as more than 40 vendors set up shop. Shoppers browsed antiques, collectibles, crafts, Harley parts, jewelry, records, plants and more. Food trucks, a beer truck and concessions from Rough Edges Brewery and Antietam Ice Cream provided refreshments, while benches and tables offered space to relax and enjoy live music from The Cruisers.
The event also supported local causes. No One Fights Alone Cancer Benefit Inc. raised $705 for Heartstrings, a dog rescue organization, through 50/50 drawings and instant tip jars. Organizers said the market aimed to offer something for everyone, from a petting zoo to knife sharpening services.
Duane Pilkerton said the couple hoped the event would continue to grow and bring the community together each year. The grounds of Green Grove Gardens provided a scenic backdrop for families, collectors and supporters of local charities to gather and enjoy the spring weekend.
