Hagerstown to host weekend of music, art, community resilience

HAGERSTOWN – Weeks after a powerful windstorm and rapid recovery efforts, Hagerstown is ready to lift spirits and celebrate its community with Hagerfest 2025, a daylong music and art festival scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event will take place along the Cultural Trail in downtown Hagerstown, transforming the city’s creative corridor into a showcase of live music, visual arts, family-friendly activities and support for local businesses.

The festival was formally highlighted during the Hagerstown City Council’s April 22 meeting, where officials praised both the city’s swift storm recovery efforts and the chance to reconnect through shared cultural experiences. “After everything we’ve been through, this is exactly what our city needs,” said Mayor William McIntire. “It’s a time to come together, support our local artists, and celebrate the strength of our community.”

Hagerfest’s diverse musical schedule features regional acts across various genres, including bluegrass, jazz, hip-hop, and folk rock. Performers include:

  • New Way Drive (Shepherdstown, West Virginia) – Traditional bluegrass with modern energy

  • The Dishonest Fiddlers (Northeast Pennsylvania) – Americana string band with folk and jug influences

  • Ryan Franko (Keedysville, Maryland) – Rising teen guitarist

  • Spence 4 Hire & Jax (Hagerstown, Maryland) – Motivational hip-hop duo

  • Smile Back Records – Hagerstown-based, positive-message hip-hop collective

  • The Steeltones (Pittsburgh) – Steelpan ensemble covering centuries of music

  • Maryland Symphony Orchestra – Downtown favorite with classical flair

  • The Wild Hymns (Central Pennsylvania) – Folk-pop and Americana blend

  • The Notorious S.T.R. (Washington, D.C.) – 12-year-old DJ phenom

  • Geno Marriott & The Spirit of Jazz (D.C.) – Veteran smooth jazz group

  • Dirrty Phil (Hagerstown) – Multidisciplinary artist and performer

The festival will also feature dozens of artisans, businesses, and interactive installations. Highlights include:

  • Just Lookin’ Gallery – Presenting works by Hampton R. Olfus, Jr., a Washington, D.C.-born artist

  • The Yarn Shop – Hosting a giant community loom for fiber arts engagement

  • Bulls & Bears – Offering food and drink specials tied to Hagerfest

  • Local makers like Jellybuns Art, Stitched by Lexx, Cassandra the Creator, Stuffed and Such, Mole in the Ground Stained Glass, Mama Said, and Jesse’s Unique Jewelry & Art

Hagerfest 2025 is free to attend and open to all ages. Downtown Hagerstown will be fully activated with music stages, artist booths, local business promotions and children’s zones. Full event details, street closure information and updates can be found at HagerstownAandE.org/Hagerfest.
