Estelle L. (Koons) Werdebaugh, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 24, 1931 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Annie V. (Harnish) Koons.
She was a graduate of Greencastle High School with the Class of 1949. During high school, Estelle was part of the girls’ basketball team. In her early life, Estelle was employed by First National Bank, Miami, FL, in the installment loan department for two years. She then was employed by Lynn’s Hallmark Card Shop, Hollywood, FL, for 12 years. Following that, Estelle took on her most important role as a mom and homemaker.
Estelle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. She enjoyed bowling, taking care of her yard, and going on walks.
She is survived by her son, William “Jeff” Werdebaugh of Chambersburg, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William “Don” Werdebaugh, who passed away March 23, 2001; and three siblings, John A. Koons, Annabelle Koons Gates, and Loretta Mills.
Services will private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
