HAGERSTOWN – In a move to enhance accessibility and convenience for patrons, the Washington County Free Library has expanded its smart locker system with a new location, allowing users to pick up their reserved books and materials at any time, day or night.
The smart locker system is designed to cater to the evolving needs of library users, providing a seamless and secure way to access materials both during and beyond regular library hours. Library users simply place a hold on books through the library’s online catalog and choose the pickup location most convenient to you. You will receive a notification when your items are available to be picked up at the locker. Items will be available in the locker for 48 hours after the notification is sent.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to serve our community better,” said Jenny Bakos, Washington County Free Library’s executive director. “With the expansion of our smart locker system, we are extending our reach beyond traditional operating hours, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need, whenever they need them.”
The smart lockers are equipped with user-friendly touchscreen interfaces, secure compartments and real-time notifications to ensure a smooth experience. This initiative aligns with Washington County Free Library’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve services and provide greater flexibility for busy individuals and families.
The new smart locker system, in collaboration with Paul Crampton Contractors and the South Pointe Shopping Center, is now available at 222 E. Oak Ridge Dr. in Hagerstown. Conveniently located in front of Cumberland Valley Chiropractic (Suite 1800) within the South Pointe Shopping Center, this addition complements the existing location at North Pointe Shopping Center. The North Pointe lockers can be found at 18745 North Pointe Dr., near the anchor store closest to Pennsylvania Avenue.
