STATE LINE – Mike Marotte III, a renowned author and historian specializing in Franklin County’s rich history, will discuss “Chambersburg’s Memorial Fountain – a Masterpiece” at 7 p.m. March 20 when the Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society is set to host its monthly meeting.
The event will take place at the State Line Ruritan Building, 15481 Park Dr., just off Route 11 at the State Line, Pennsylvania, Community Park.
During his presentation, Marotte is expected to cover various aspects of the fountain’s history, including:
- The origins of the fountain project
- The group responsible for proposing the memorial
- Details about the fountain’s designer and builder
- The construction costs
- The dates of erection and dedication
