GREENCASTLE – Ben Thomas Jr. has announced his candidacy for re-election as mayor of Greencastle. Thomas noted he has spent his entire adult life serving the citizens of the community in many capacities and is excited to make this announcement seeking a third term.
As a Greencastle resident, Thomas professionally served a total of 37 years in the community as a police officer and in municipal government management, along with 51 years of volunteer service.
He said he looks forward to continuing his education and professional experience. As mayor, Thomas has supported police services, public safety and intersection improvements. He said he also supports effective zoning and land-use solutions, locally owned businesses, the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce and communicating with citizens in person and in the media.
Additionally, Thomas has a record of supporting veterans, first responders, educational and faith-based leaders. He also said he regularly stays in touch with elected officials in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C.
Thomas will seek the Republican nomination in the May 20 primary.
