WAYNESBORO – Jennifer Hitz, president and CEO of Leg Up Farm told Waynesboro Rotarians last week about the tremendous progress the organization has made in making a local facility, Leg Up Farm Franklin County, a reality.
After some fits and starts at the beginning of this project (including Covid), Hitz noted that it is full steam ahead for the local facility.
The original Leg Up Farm was founded by Louis and Laurie Castriota in York County. The Castriotas had a special needs child and discovered there was no single, central location designed to serve the multiple disciplinary mental and physical care needs of these children.
Hitz’s organization has the mission “to enrich the lives of individuals and families with special needs and unique challenges, through support and customized programs.“ She said this will go a long way to improve much needed services in the county.
Hitz praised the efforts made so far by the Franklin County community and urged continued support to cross the finish line on this project. Information about the organization can be obtained at www.legupfarm.org.
