HAGERSTOWN – The Washington County Community Car Seat event is set to take place on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at 110 Eastern Blvd. N. in Hagerstown. This event aims to promote child safety by offering car seat inspections and installations to local residents.
During the three-hour event, certified car seat technicians will be available to assist parents and caregivers in properly installing car seats and ensuring they are using the correct type of seat for their child’s age, weight and height. The technicians will also check for any recalls or expiration dates on existing car seats.
This community service is particularly important as studies have shown that a significant number of car seats are installed incorrectly, which can compromise a child’s safety in the event of an accident. By attending this event, families can gain peace of mind knowing their children are properly secured while traveling.
The organizers encourage attendees to bring their vehicle, car seat and child to the event for the most accurate assessment and guidance. They also recommend reviewing their current car seat’s manual before arriving. This free service is part of ongoing efforts in Washington County to reduce childhood injuries and fatalities related to motor vehicle accidents. It reflects the community’s commitment to child safety and provides a valuable resource for local families.
