Hagerstown to consider accepting roadway extensions

HAGERSTOWN – The City of Hagerstown is poised to expand its public road system with the acceptance of extensions of Lois Harrison Boulevard and Paul Smith Boulevard. The City Council will review the proposed resolution during their Dec. 17 meeting.

Jim Bender, city engineer, said the roadways were constructed as part of the Currwood warehouse development, and adherence to city standards were monitored throughout the process.

These streets, which connect major infrastructure hubs, are expected to improve traffic flow and support future development in the area, city officials explained. A one-year maintenance surety, as outlined by city ordinances, will also be established before the city begins full maintenance responsibilities.

The council memo underscores that accepting these streets has been a long-term consideration, reflecting the city’s proactive planning to accommodate new developments.

The upcoming City Council meeting will provide an opportunity for further discussion on the impact of this integration. City staff will be present to address any questions or concerns from the council members.

The vicinity map and additional documentation are available on the City of Hagerstown’s official website.
