Donald Nelson McClure, Sr., age 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born August 16, 1933 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Richard H. McClure and Mary M. Horn McClure.
Mr. McClure was a 1951 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and a 1955 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Mr. McClure was a U.S. Army veteran, serving honorably from 1957-1959. He was the owner of Donald N. McClure, Certified Public Accountant, PC. He was a member of Zion Reformed Church. Don loved Penn State Football and attended many games over the years. In addition, Don loved his work and cherished his family. He also enjoyed model trains, shopping, and decorating for the Christmas season.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years Ida H. Roof McClure, whom he married on April 28, 1956; two sons, Donald N. McClure, Jr. (Nancy) of Millerstown, PA and Craig A. McClure (Lynn) of Arlington, VA; two granddaughters, Amber Louise McClure and Heather Anne McClure; and a sister, Barbara McCann of Clermont, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard McClure.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Zion Reformed Church, 259 S. Main St., Chambersburg, PA 17201. The Reverend Thomas Dunkle will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
