Mr. Elmer F. “Bud” Hilden, 85, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born January 10, 1939, in Independence, MO, he was the son of the late Elmer Hilden, Sr. and Roseanna Russell Hilden
Mr. Hilden honorably and faithfully served his country with the United States Army for over 26 years. He was honored by receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and four Overseas Service Medals.
He and his wife of over 45 years, the late Lieselotte “Lisa” (Herget) Hilden, were married on December 8, 1961, in Germany. Mrs. Hilden passed away in 2007.
Mr. Hilden was a very active golfer who played the game as long as he was able.
He is survived by two daughters: Tammy Burpoe (Ray), of Chesterfield, VA, Nancy Rock (Todd), of Mont Alto, PA; two sons: Michael Hilden, (Suni) of Bonaire, GA, Daniel Hilden (Penny), of Hagerstown, MD; seven grandchildren: Duane Burpoe, Stephanie Wiseman, Christina Deiseroth, Jenelle Fortney, Daniel Hilden, Andrea Alonso, Meghan Hilden; eight great-grandchildren: Jimmy Burpoe, Jeffrey Burpoe, Scarlett Deiseroth, Jacob Fortney, Noah Fortney, Jackson Fortney, Jacob Hilden and Josephine Wiseman.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Hilden.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
