John Robert Coy (Hoppy), age 67, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1957, in Dundee, FL, the son of the late Mae Lizzie (Tomlin) and Robert James Coy. John attended Haines City High School in Haines City, FL. John enjoyed attending his Church, Unity In Christ, where he served as a Deacon and council member. He also led the men’s choir. His employment experiences consisted of Waste Management of Greencastle, PA, Chambersburg School District, and retiring from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a contractor. John enjoyed watching old western movies, wrestling, football (huge Steeler fan), gardening, fishing, and golfing. He volunteered as a youth football coach for several years, Maranatha Ministries, and for anyone else who needed a volunteer, he would be there. John also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his three granddaughters, Luciana, Sydney, and LaVeah; and his five bonus grandsons. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Yolanda (Calloway) Coy, children, James (Tanya) of Chambersburg, PA, Quinn (Joseph) of Sicklerville, NJ, Damien (Miranda) of Chambersburg, PA, a sister, Joanne Coy of Lake Alfred, FL, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he is perceived in death by his sister, Norma Coy and Patricia Ann Coy-Ellison of Florida. A funeral service will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Unity In Christ Church with Rev. Dr. Lois Waters officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to Unity In Christ Church, 4301 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sellersfuneralhome.com.
