Ronald “Ron” Lee Heckman, age 80, of El Paso, Tx died at 5:40 AM Monday July 1, 2024, at his home in El Paso.
Born March 27, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the first born of the late David LeRoy “Roy” Heckman and Sarah Irene “Rena” (Hawbaker) Heckman. He married Willette “Willie” Dickerson on August 24, 1968, in Havertown, PA.
Ron graduated from Chambersburg Area High School and received his electrical engineering degree from Drexel University. He held Professional Engineer Licenses in Ohio and New Mexico. Ron worked 25 years for Ohio Power / AEP, 10 years for the Hoover Company in North Canton, OH and later El Paso, TX, and finished his career working for El Paso Electric. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing things, watching and listening to sports, traveling, bowling, and spending time with family.
Surviving family are his wife, Willette Heckman, his three children, Scott A. (wife Christy) Heckman of Phillipsburg, NJ, Steve K. (wife Kristen) Heckman of Canton, OH, Nancy L. (husband Tannim) Heckman of Canton, OH, and eight grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Don and John Heckman and sisters Dot Overcash, Darlene Coldsmith, and Kathy Goetz and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 12 noon at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA with Pastor Fred Keener officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Please join us for repast at Greencastle Church of the Brethren following the services.
Private Burial will be held Thursday, July 11th at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA.
