Carolyn Terry Eddy, 95, of Waynesboro PA peacefully passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2024, in her home.

After living a long fulfilling life embracing her loving family, a multitude of lifelong friendships as well as easily making new friendships throughout the years and enjoying the small-town life of her beloved Waynesboro, her health had been failing in recent years. But with her warm contagious spirit, she continued to provide laughter and smiles to all.

Born November 3, 1928, in Germantown PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Freda (Weber) Terry. Shortly after her birth, she began life with her parents and late brother, Ronney Terry, in Waynesboro. Carolyn graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1947, which was followed by graduation from Southern Seminary Junior College, Buena Vista, VA, in 1949, with a degree in Kindergarten Education. After her college graduation, she opened Terry’s Kindergarten in Waynesboro where she taught until starting a family.

Carolyn and her husband, David E. Eddy, were married on May 3, 1952. David passed away in January of 2001 after 48 years of marriage.

Carolyn was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro. Over the years she was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Friend of Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, Antietam Humane Society, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, Waynesboro College Club, Waynesboro. Historical Society, Waynesboro Country Club and Buttonwood Nature Center, where she was a member of the Today’s Horizon Club.

Her hobbies included travel with her family and friends, walking her beloved dogs, biking, bridge, cooking and exploring new recipes through an International Cooking group and being a loyal supporter of her daughters and granddaughters in all of their activities of dance, Girl Scouts, sporting events and church and school functions. As a “People Person” she loved spending time with her family and friends, entertaining and enjoying the outdoors patio and gardens. Carolyn did attempt the hobby of knitting, but David only ended up with one stocking.

Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Constance Eddy Fleagle (James) of Waynesboro, PA and Kimberly Eddy Larkin (Daniel) of Swiftwater, PA; two granddaughters, Carly Fleagle Chisholm (Nicholas) of Wayne, PA and Paige Fleagle Olzinski (Daniel) of Mountain Top, PA; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Abigail Olzinski, of Mountain Top, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 21, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Danielle Neff officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Buttonwood Nature Center, P.O. Box 971, Waynesboro PA 17268 or Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro PA 17268.
