GREENCASTLE, Pa. — A Greencastle woman who is listed on Pennsylvania’s sex offender registry faces charges after police said she repeatedly approached a teenage Sheetz employee, followed the worker into a restroom and asked the teen to visit her home.
Julie Johnson, 57, is charged with misdemeanor counts of luring a child into a motor vehicle, corruption of minors and stalking, according to court records. She also faces summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct.
An affidavit of probable cause filed Monday by a Greencastle Borough police officer describes an encounter at the borough’s Sheetz on Oct. 26. Police said Johnson followed the teenage employee into the restroom that day.
The employee told police Johnson had followed her into the restroom on other occasions and repeatedly asked her to come to Johnson’s home, according to the affidavit.
The teen also reported that Johnson touched her shoulder and hugged her without permission five or six times during encounters Oct. 17 and 18, the affidavit states.
The officer identified Johnson as a Tier 2 sex offender on Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law registry. Her public registry entry lists a Sept. 30 conviction for unlawful contact with a minor.
Johnson was taken to the Franklin County Jail after an arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Duane Cunningham. Bail was set at $50,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 10. The charges are allegations, and Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
