Okay, I can’t help it. I have to talk about it.
The videos of dogs and cats in Halloween costumes. Oh. My. Word.
They make me laugh so long and so loud.
I have to tell you, any time we have a costume contest for dogs at the shelter, I am so glad I don’t have to be a judge. The dog owners in our area are so creative and hilarious!
At the dog walk this year, we had Dolly Parton – a dog dressed up as Dolly Parton. The costume included her, um, ample cleavage.
It was so amazing.
And the online videos of these animals dressed up for Halloween are just too much.
There was a house full of Pomeranians. I want to say there were four of them, and one was dressed as a crab.
But this wasn’t a small crab. Oh, no. This crab had long legs and a pretty big body and the Pom that was wearing this costume was running around the house like nothing was different or out of the ordinary.
His siblings, however, acted like it might be the end of the world. They wanted nothing at all to do with the bizarre crab.
It was so funny.
There was one, though, that was actually super creepy. A smaller dog (I can’t even tell the breed) was wearing a Pennywise mask over his face, and it looked incredibly real.
So you can imagine this miniature version of the famous, incredibly freaky clown coming around the corner of a couch.
*shiver*
It was a little too much for me. It turns out it was also a little too much for the Great Dane that also lived in the house because when he came around the corner and saw this little Pennywise creature, he flipped out pretty hard.
I couldn’t blame him.
And then there are the cats. Oh my word, I will not even attempt to dress up my cats in my home because there would be real bloodshed this Halloween, not the kind you can get from a bottle. Seriously. My felines would never tolerate me putting outfits on them.
There are people who do dress up their cats, though – and I think they’re taking their lives into their own hands.
I found a video of a lady dressing up a brown tabby boy as Chucky. This cat was not having it. He was hollering what actually sounded like, “Noooo” and giving her the most angry look I’ve seen in a cat in a while.
The whole time I’m watching this video, I’m saying to the screen, “Lady, you are going to lose an eye if you keep this up.”
I’ve talked to people who had cats who had no problem being dressed up, but I’ve also known a lot of felines who would never tolerate it.
While these videos are funny, I’d be remiss in not at least providing a little bit of a cautionary suggestion to make sure you know your pet, and if he or she doesn’t want to wear a costume, don’t make them.
If, on the other hand, your four-legged buddy wants to play dress up in a crazy outfit this Halloween, I say go for it and have an amazing time!
And thanks for sharing the results online so the rest of us can laugh our way through a weekday evening.
