WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Area families are invited to explore the world of nature at night on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Buttonwood Nature Center in Waynesboro, Pa.
Participants will go on a hike after dark to practice using all of their senses through games and hands-on experiences.
“In the dark, we must adjust to using our other senses to explore the world around us, just like many animals do,” said Mary Claire King, Buttonwood educator and program coordinator.
“For example, using your sense of touch to guess what nature item you’re holding in your hand, trying to use your eyes to guess what color you’re writing with in the dark, and taking a quiet moment to look at all the stars in the sky,” King said. “It will be a fun and enlightening experience.”
Part of Buttonwood’s Naturalist Discovery Series, the event is open to all ages. Limited to 20. Cost: $5 per person; registration required. Register online at buttonwoodnaturecenter.org. For more information call 717-762-0373 or email to [email protected].
This program is underwritten in part by Naturalist Discovery Series sponsors Pam & Bruce Rowland and Conococheague Audubon, and by Lucinda D. Potter, CPA, and SEK CPAs & Advisors.
Additional support is from Buttonwood’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Mary Marshall Buckey in memory of her parents, the late George and Marty Buckey; the late Marge Kiersz; Don Gibe and Nancy Erlanson; and the family of the late Carolyn Terry Eddy, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
