If you like digging for treasures like vintage accessories, designer bags and regional artwork, you might find that and more at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts’ 27th annual Treasure Sale Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 10.
The Hagerstown museum’s largest annual fundraiser will showcase hundreds of select community donations for sale to benefit the museum in the heart of City Park. Some noteworthy items already priced and tagged for the 2026 sale include a Vivo designer bag for $600, a mink coat for $200, Russian china for $1,000, and artwork from regional artists Diana Sutterfield and Thomas W. Miller. Furniture, artwork, collectibles, glassware, jewelry, and more are also poised to sell.
Bailey Rafter, the museum’s manager of marketing and publications, said that the museum relies on fundraisers to operate even though the independent museum also receives some funding from the city, county and state.
“Without fundraisers and the generous support of the community, we wouldn’t be here,” she said.
Over the last 10 years, the Treasure Sale has raised more than $245,000. Income over the last few years has ranged from $30,000 to $40,000, Rafter said.

Kickoff for the event is a Nov. 6 ticketed Preview Party from 6-8 p.m., allowing shoppers to browse items before the sale opens to the general public on Nov. 7. Preview Party tickets are $50 for the general public and $45 for museum members. Registration is required by phone or via Eventbrite. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
It’s free for anyone to shop the Treasure Sale during its three-day run: Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Nov. 8 from 1-4 p.m., and Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Nov. 10 is “Bag Day” where shoppers can fill a provided bag for $20.) Cash and all major credit cards are accepted.
The Treasure Sale is organized by the Singer Society, the museum’s dedicated group of volunteers. A raffle for $10 a ticket will be held throughout the sale. The winner will be announced at the end of Sunday’s sale. (Ticket holders do not have to be present to win a basket filled with an assortment of hand-picked treasures.)
Rafter said that while the Treasure Sale is the museum’s largest fundraiser, it also operates a popular Amazing Tablescapes fundraiser in March and its Art in Bloom fundraiser in April.
