WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Area Senior High School (WASHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter is sponsoring the Run for Hope 5K on Saturday, Nov. 14, to benefit New Hope Shelter. All proceeds from the community fundraising event will go directly to support a new roof and renovation efforts for the shelter.
The 5K run and walk will be held at the high school track and field and will go through Renfrew Park. Community members, avid runners, families, and local business supporters are all invited to participate and help the students reach their goal of raising $1,000 for the shelter, according to Brian Fisher, a chapter adviser and also career coordinator at the high school.
Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. and the run starts at 9 a.m.; an event T-shirt, featuring a design created by senior Romell Petit, is included with runner sign-up. The cost of the race is $15 per person for groups/teams that register or $30 for an individual.
“Our students have been working to make a positive impact in the Waynesboro community,” said the FBLA faculty advisers Kegan Crider and Fisher. “Partnering with New Hope Shelter allows our future business leaders to apply their project management skills toward a cause that directly benefits local families in need,” they added.
In addition to individual runner registrations, local businesses are invited to participate as event sponsors or through in-kind donations to support the runners.
Participants can register in advance by scanning the QR code on official event flyers or by contacting the chapter advisers: Kegan Crider at [email protected] or Brian Fisher at [email protected]
