MONT ALTO, Pa. — Penn State Mont Alto will welcome alumni, students, families and community members Oct. 23-25 for its final homecoming weekend before the campus closes at the end of the 2026-27 academic year.
The three-day celebration will highlight the campus’s history and traditions through tours, athletic events, music and opportunities for alumni to share memories.
Activities will begin Friday, Oct. 23, with a planetarium show from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in Room 115 of the Allied Health Building.
Saturday’s schedule includes self-guided campus and arboretum tours, alumni athletic games, food trucks, live music and Woodsmen Team activities. The women’s soccer team will host Penn State Beaver at 2 p.m.
Registration is required for Friday and Saturday activities. Attendees can find registration information and the complete weekend schedule on the Homecoming 2026 website.
Alumni also are encouraged to submit photographs, videos and reflections documenting the campus’s history through the Share Your Story page. Former classmates, teammates and friends can organize informal gatherings throughout the weekend.
The celebration will take place rain or shine. Weather, parking and schedule updates will be posted on the homecoming website.
Penn State’s Board of Trustees voted in May 2025 to close Mont Alto and six other campuses because of budget constraints and declining enrollment, although an independent analysis indicated the trustees’ information was flawed. The other campuses scheduled to close are DuBois, Fayette, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre and York.
In September, trustees approved sales of the Shenango and Wilkes-Barre campuses to private development firms. Future plans for Mont Alto and the other four remaining campuses remain unsettled.
