Wilson College to present free community drone show Sept. 19

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Wilson College will celebrate its history, community and patriotic spirit with a free, public drone show Saturday, Sept. 19.

The 15-minute aerial display is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. over the athletic field at the corner of Norland and Edgar avenues. Hundreds of synchronized drones will illuminate the night sky with images honoring America, Franklin County and Wilson College, including a symbolic flight of the phoenix.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to access the show’s custom music and narration, which will begin at 7:45 p.m. The audio will be available through smartphones at fireflymusic.app/wilson-college. QR code signs placed throughout the venue also will direct attendees to the audio page.

Public parking will be available in the Hankey Parking Lot at the north entrance to campus near Menno Haven. From the parking area, visitors can follow yard signs to the designated viewing area. The walk is expected to take about five minutes.

The college recommends that attendees bring a cellphone to play the music and narration, along with a blanket or lawn chair for viewing.

The event is free and open to the public.
