Linda Lee Yingling passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Linda was born on November 9, 1947, the daughter of Marvin and Norma Dell (Sell) Holden. She attended Waynesboro High School, graduating with the class of 1965. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Yingling, on April 10, 1965. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and so many beautiful memories.
Linda was a devoted homemaker and stay-at-home mother to her two children. She also managed the administrative work for the family business, Blue Ridge Appraisal Service, and she spent many days caring for her four granddaughters.
Family was so important in Linda’s life. She never missed a sporting event, dance recital, or concert involving her children or grandchildren. She traveled to multiple states so that she could be in the stands or the audience to cheer for her favorite people. Linda also loved hosting holidays for her family and traveling to Ocean City, Maryland for annual summer vacations.
Linda was a passionate Penn State football fan who, along with her husband, proudly held season tickets for over 40 years. The two spent countless Saturdays rooting for the Nittany Lions from the North East endzone. One of her favorite Penn State memories was traveling to New Orleans to watch the Nittany Lions play in the 1979 Sugar Bowl.
Linda found joy in simple pleasures throughout her life including volleyball leagues with family and friends at Memorial Park and the YMCA, bowling leagues with her friends at Sunshine Lanes, summer days at the Sportsman’s pool, boating trips to Raystown Lake, chocolate eclair donuts from Dunkin, and shopping excursions with her daughter and granddaughters. Linda also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, where she seemed to know the answer to nearly every question.
Linda will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her sense of humor, and her intelligence. If there was an award for “mom of the year,” she would have won it many times over. Her greatest joy was being there for the people she loved.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her son, Troy Yingling, and his wife, Jessica; her daughter, Holly Cieri, and her husband, Steven, all of Waynesboro; four granddaughters, Mariah Hill and her husband, Tanner, Jennifer Garland and her husband, Anthony, Kathryn (Kate) Cieri, and Elizabeth (Ellie) Cieri; and four great-grandchildren, Madeline and Tucker Hill, and Myles and Molly Garland. She is also survived by her sister, Penny Yingling, and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Marvin (Gene) Holden and Wayne Holden; Bill’s parents, Eugene and Ruthie Yingling; and her daughter-in-law, Marna Yingling.
Linda leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will remain with her family always. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA. A memorial ceremony celebrating Linda’s life will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. that evening.
