Franklin Fire Company responds to two overnight fire calls

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Franklin Fire Company personnel assisted at a working house fire Saturday night in Quincy Township and responded to a smoke investigation early Sunday in Greene Township, according to the fire company.

At 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Franklin 911 dispatched units to the 7200 block of Slabtown Road in Quincy Township for a house fire, according to Franklin Fire Company.

Chief 5 reported a working fire and arrived to find fire showing from every window of a two-story, single-family, wood-frame home, the fire company said.

The working-fire dispatch assigned Squad 41 as the rapid intervention team. Upon arrival, Squad 41 personnel established the rapid intervention company and assisted with exterior firefighting operations, according to Franklin Fire Company. The company operated at the scene for about one hour.

Franklin Fire Company directed requests for additional information about the Slabtown Road fire to Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department.

Smoke investigation in Greene Township

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, crews were dispatched to Marcella Drive in Greene Township for a report of smoke inside a townhouse, Franklin Fire Company said.

Letterkenny Army Depot Engine 13 arrived first and reported no visible signs of fire while laying a supply line at the entrance to the complex, according to the fire company. Engine 45 secured a water source.

Crews found a faulty hot-water appliance, secured it and ventilated the townhouse, Franklin Fire Company said. Units remained at the scene for a short time.

Crews assist at Thursday crash

Shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, crews were dispatched for a reported crash near mile marker 14 northbound on Interstate 81 with possible entrapment, Franklin Fire Company said.

New Franklin Fire Company crews located multiple vehicles on Wayne Road in front of Cracker Barrel and confirmed that one person needed to be extricated from a vehicle, according to Franklin Fire Company.

Squad 41 arrived as New Franklin crews began the extrication. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and removed a door to free the patient, Franklin Fire Company said. The patient was then transferred to emergency medical services personnel for transport.
