Mr. Lanny R. Moore, 83, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 6, 2026, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Born on April 2, 1943, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Edwin O. Moore and E. Ruth Moore and the grandson of the late Leroy and Elsie Moore.
Lanny graduated from Chambersburg Senior High School in 1963. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a devoted patriot who loved his country and was honored to be a veteran. He spent much of his working life employed by Regency Thermographers in Waynesboro.
He is survived by his three sisters, Maxine Marshall, Edwina Barton, and Pandora Messick; his nephews, Warren Spencer, Ronnie Spencer, John Barton, and Sean Messick; his only niece, Audra Lucas; as well as several cousins, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Lanny was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, Inc., and the Owls Club. He was also a lifetime member of American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro, where he enjoyed socializing with friends, listening to music, and dancing. He also enjoyed attending concerts.
An avid family historian, Lanny was well-versed in the genealogy of both family and friends. He never met a stranger and genuinely enjoyed getting to know people, often asking questions and learning all he could about their lives and experiences.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 13, 2026, at Grove Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Burial will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania where military honors will be rendered by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Thursday morning, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lanny’s honor to American Legion Post 15, 63 E. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
