Mr. Jeffrey L. McLaughlin, Sr., 78, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Born September 10, 1947 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Bruce and June “Chick” (Lambert) McLaughlin.
Jeff was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1965. He later studied at Penn State Mont Alto and Shippensburg University.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was a helicopter repairman and mechanic.
Part owner of the family business, McLaughlin’s Energy Services, Jeff retired in 2016.
He was a member of the Owls Club and life member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Association, Mechanics S.F.E. & Hose Co. #1 and Potomac Fish and Game in Williamsport, MD.
An avid outdoorsman, Jeff enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan (Lemmon) McLaughlin; two children, Tracey McLaughlin Alexander and her husband, Craig A., Sr. of Fairfield and Jeffrey L. McLaughlin, Jr. and his wife, Patti of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Craig Alexander, Jr., Joshua Alexander, Natalie McLaughlin, Casey Souders (Aaron) and Logan Fair (Rachel); five great-grandchildren, Cadence, Caley, Cara, Mack and Iris; two brothers, Vaughn E. McLaughlin (Phanee) of Waynesboro and Mark L. McLaughlin (Patti) of Pond Bank; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1:30 P.M., Monday, August 17, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Graveside services will follow beginning at 2:00 P.M., Monday in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro. Military honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Chambersburg.
