Summertime vibes continue with activities at Blue Ridge Summit Library

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. — Even though the summer break is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean the fun has to end too. The Blue Ridge Summit Free Library is still presenting fun activities for all ages the rest of August.

Sharing stories for kids

One of the library’s most popular activities is their Children’s Storytime events. Taking place on Monday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 22 and 29, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., these family events offer a weekly story, songs, craft or coloring sheets, and play time.

Something for teens

Tween and Teen Nights are a great way to unwind after a long day at school for area teens. Activities include games and crafting. There will also be snacks available. The events take place on Thursday nights from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Also, on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 5-6:30 p.m. there will be the Young Adult Game Night. If you love board and card games and are looking to make new friends, then this is the night for you. Bring a snack and your favorite game and join in on the fun.

Crafting and book club for adults

Kids aren’t the only ones having fun this August at the library. The Blue Ridge Summit Book Club will meet on the third Monday of every month, unless that day falls on a holiday. Copies of the monthly book are available at the library, and all are welcome to join in on the discussion. Next month, the book club will be reading and discussing The Importance of Being Earnest, a witty play by the classic writer Oscar Wilde.

There will also be two crafting events this month. On Aug. 18, the Blue Ridge Summit’s quilting club, Summit Stitchers, will have their monthly meeting in the community room from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m., and they are always looking for new members.

The Adult Crafternoon: Mini Soaps will be held Aug. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. The popular event will give participants a chance to make tiny soaps that can be used as gifts. All supplies will be provided.

Crafternoon programs are intended to provide a time of creativity and relaxation for adults around the community. Please RSVP if you plan to attend please email the organizer so they know how many stations to set up. To RSVP send email to [email protected].
