New ‘Mike on the Mic’ episode features workforce development

In the latest episode of “Mike on the Mic,” Franklin County Area Development Corporation President Mike Ross talks with T.J. Eltringham, chief operating officer at Lackawanna College. They discuss the college’s focus on career-based education, workforce training and helping students connect with employers and growing industries.

One highlight of their talk is the new Welding Technology program starting soon at Lackawanna College’s Chambersburg Center. The first class begins at the end of August, giving more people in the area a chance to get hands-on training in skilled trades.

Eltringham explains that programs like welding can help fill workforce gaps and give students a clear path to jobs in fields that need skilled workers.

They also discuss why colleges, economic groups and employers need to work together. When schools know what businesses and communities need, they can create training that better prepares students for jobs and helps the local economy grow.

Eltringham shares how Lackawanna College is working to build and strengthen a steady flow of workers ready to meet employers’ needs now and in the future.

This episode offers a closer look at the people, partnerships, and educational programs shaping workforce development in the region.

Tune in to hear the full conversation with Eltringham about the new Welding Technology program, Lackawanna College’s approach to career education and why working together is key to preparing the region for future workforce needs.

New episodes of “Mike on the Mic” are released on the first and third Tuesdays every month.
