Franklin County Republicans plan fall volunteer campaign

The Franklin County Republican Committee is organizing volunteer training and voter-outreach events as it prepares for the Nov. 3 election.

The committee held two August events intended to build support for Republican candidates and recruit volunteers for the fall campaign season.

The FCRC All-American BBQ on Aug. 8 brought together candidates, elected officials, committee members and supporters, according to the committee. Jason Richey, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, delivered the keynote address.

U.S. Rep. John Joyce, state Sen. Doug Mastriano, state Rep. Rob Kauffman and Franklin County Republican Committee Chair Ruth Ebersole also addressed attendees.

Several days later, Mastriano and his wife, Rebbie, hosted a farewell celebration recognizing his service in the Pennsylvania Senate and the Walk as Free People movement. During the event, Mastriano endorsed state Treasurer Stacy Garrity in the Republican race for governor.

Ebersole said the events demonstrated enthusiasm among Franklin County Republicans but stressed that volunteers will be needed to turn that support into votes.

“Enthusiasm by itself doesn’t win an election,” Ebersole said. “We have work to do between now and Election Day, and we need people willing to be part of it.”

The committee’s first scheduled Day of Action will be a volunteer training and preparation session at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at FCRC headquarters, 1931 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

The headquarters will reopen for the campaign season at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, followed by voter outreach activities. Additional Days of Action are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24, Oct. 10 at a time to be announced and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 22.

The volunteer effort will focus on contacting voters and increasing Republican turnout. Ebersole encouraged residents to participate even if they are not committee members or cannot volunteer regularly.

She said volunteers can help voters make a plan to cast ballots by mail or vote in person on Election Day.

The Franklin County Republican Committee is seeking participation from Republicans throughout the county. More information is available through the committee’s website and social media accounts.
