Margaret Nonemaker
1941 – 2026
Margaret Nonemaker, aged 85, beloved wife, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Margaret was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to the late Charles and Grace (Woodruff) Olsen. She was married to the love of her life, Richard Nonemaker, for over 40 wonderful years. Together, they embraced their retirement by traveling the country, attending concerts and plays, and making frequent trips to visit their cherished family.
A woman of many talents and passions, Margaret loved crafting, including cross-stitch, sewing, and scrapbooking. She and Richard shared a deep passion for square dancing, embarking on many memorable trips with their dance club and favorite caller.
Margaret had a kind and sweet personality, and a delightfully feisty, stubborn side that kept everyone on their toes. Her genuine care for others always remained at the forefront. She would always greet you with a gracious compliment and leave you with a warm thank you. She was truly one of a kind and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Margaret found immense joy in nature, especially visiting a local sunflower field and admiring any flowers she happened to pass. When you see a sunflower, please think of her-they represent enduring warmth, resilience, and turning toward the light. Her family chooses to remember her just like a bright sunflower that will never fade away, even over distance and time.
Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard, and her parents. She is survived by her brother, Hubert (Mary) Olsen; her nephews, Eric (Kelly) Olsen and Scott Olsen; her great-nephew, Dylan (Jazmin) Olsen; her great-niece, Haley (Steven) Dvornick, two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew, and many other extended family members. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Karl (Judy) Nonemaker and more members of her late husband’s family.
Margaret’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside her husband’s. A small, private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity Margaret supported, the National MS Society, at the link below. Thank you.
