Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter receives $35,000 energy grant

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter was recently awarded a $35,000 grant from the West Penn Energy Fund to better optimize its energy use and improve the efficiency of its facility at 5051 Letterkenny Road West in Greene Township near Chambersburg.

“This highly beneficial grant from West Penn Energy Fund allows Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter to underwrite and deploy new improved assets in terms of equipment, while providing us with a detailed plan and roadmap that will lead us to future energy cost savings,” noted CVAS Director of Development Todd Willman.

“We’re very grateful for this support. On behalf of our leadership team and board of directors, our dedicated employees and our amazing volunteers, we’re delighted to receive this grant award.”

Opened in 2013, the shelter facility delivers a growing caseload of support and adoption services for homeless animals seeking forever homes, driven in large measure by increasing growth in the local region. Last year the shelter facilitated nearly 900 adoptions, performed nearly 1,100 spay/neuter surgeries in an effort to control the animal population, and made possible more than 220 reunions with happy owners.
