HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Community members are invited to experience a unique evening of culture, cuisine and conversation during the Hagerstown Area Religious Council’s annual Interfaith Progressive Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Held in observance of the International Day of Peace, the event offers participants an opportunity to visit several local houses of worship while learning about the beliefs, traditions and cultures of different faith communities.
As attendees travel together from one location to the next, they will enjoy spiritually and culturally significant foods while hearing from representatives of each participating faith tradition. The evening is designed to promote understanding, build relationships and celebrate the diversity of the Hagerstown community.
This year’s participating faith communities include:
- St. John’s Episcopal Church (Christian—Anglican)
- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Christian—Mormon)
- United Tribes of the Shenandoah (Native American)
- Islamic Society of Western Maryland (Muslim)
Tickets are $25 per person for general admission and $10 for students, including college students. Attendance is limited to 100 participants, and organizers encourage early registration. The deadline to purchase tickets is Sept. 18, unless the event sells out sooner.
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council hosts the annual dinner to foster mutual respect and understanding among people of different faiths while bringing the community together around a shared commitment to peace.
