Families looking to stock up for the new school year will have plenty to browse at the Back-to-School Craft & Vendor Market at Valley Mall in Hagerstown. The event, featuring local vendors with handmade items, school essentials, treats and other back-to-school must-haves, will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 7-9, at 17301 Valley Mall Road, with hours from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Golden hour in the orchard will set the scene for a peach-themed evening at Country Creek Produce Farm in Chambersburg. Country Creek Produce, in collaboration with Berg Brewing and Dave Munson, will host “A Peach Orchard Promenade,” a strolling tasting experience from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the farm, where guests will move through the peach orchard and stop at tasting stations featuring peach-inspired small plates and drinks, with farm tables, fresh blooms, lounge seating and live acoustic music creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Music, food and a summer evening on the greens will set the scene at Conocodell Golf Club as Nite Fuel performs live Saturday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 112 Coldspring Road, Fayetteville. Celia’s Food Truck will serve from 4:30 to 9 p.m., with parking opening at 4:30 p.m., and organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together for a memorable night of live entertainment, food and drinks on the course.
School bells are still a few weeks away, but families can get a head start at the Back-to-School Family Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shippensburg Fair Grounds, 10131 Possum Hollow Road, Shippensburg. The free event will feature educational and interactive exhibits, free school supplies, free entertainment, free haircuts and free pizza as community organizations share resources, information and activities to help children, youth and families kick off the new school year.
Peach lovers will have a sweet reason to head to Leitersburg this weekend as the annual Peach Festival returns to the Leitersburg Ruritan, 21427 Leiter St., Hagerstown, with free admission and parking. The event, celebrating Washington County’s peach agricultural heritage, will run Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring more than 100 local craft vendors, live music, family activities and plenty of peach treats, including pie, ice cream and cobbler; no pets are allowed.
