GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Gleaning Project, a program of South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP), is hosting its annual Glean-A-Mania fundraiser, a five-day event Aug. 10-14. The organization is asking for the public’s help to support its mission of nourishing families and fighting food insecurity in the community.
The Gleaning Project works to reduce food waste and feed hungry people in South Central Pennsylvania and Washington County, Maryland by gathering crops that would otherwise go to waste. In 2025, the organization distributed more than 515,000 pounds of fresh produce to more than 12,700 people.
Glean-A-Mania offers various giving levels with corresponding titles, starting from $25 for a “Seed Sower” to $5,000 for a “Crop Champion.” Other levels include $50 for a “Sprout Supporter,” $100 for a “Field Friend,” $250 for a “Bushel Backer,” $500 for a “Plentiful Provider,” $1,000 for a “Harvest Hero” and $2,000 for a “Feeding Force.”
Donations can be made online at thegleaningproject.org. Checks can also be made out to SCCAP with “Glean-a-Mania” written in the memo line and mailed to 153 N. Stratton St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
The Gleaning Project is a component of South Central Community Action Programs, a nonprofit organization, and donations are tax deductible. All proceeds from Glean-A-Mania will support the program’s ongoing efforts to glean produce, distribute it to families in need, and expand its reach to serve more people in the community.
