Mr. Richard A. “Red” Mohn, 91, of Waynesboro, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Quincy Village.
Born August 5, 1934 in Leitersburg, MD, he was the son of the late Arthur James and Edith Marie (Kline) Mohn.
Red was a graduate of Hagerstown High School. He later was drafted into the United States Army serving in Fort Benning, Georgia and Honorably discharged in 1963.
He and his wife of over 65 years, Wendy J. (Florence) Mohn, were married on October 9, 1960.
Red was the manager of the meat department for the A&P Grocery Store, Waynesboro, PA, retiring after 35 years of service. He later became the manager of the V.F.W. Post #695, Waynesboro and worked for various Pennsylvania liquor stores in the local area.
He was a life member of William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post #695 and was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 and Renfrew Museum and Park where he was also a volunteer, all of Waynesboro.
Red was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Duke Basketball and Penn State Football. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, bird watching, painting and collecting antiques – especially glass and fine China. He took great pride in his beautiful home and yard.
Red also enjoyed fine wine, a good bottle of bourbon and his daughter-in laws cooking. He especially loved the time spent with his family and attending all of his grandchildren’s events and being their chauffeur.
Red was known by many nicknames throughout his 91 years. Bubby, Dick, Richard, Red, The Man Who Knows, Red Hot Red, Mr. Grumpy, and his favorite of all, Pap Pap.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Todd R. Mohn (Lanise) of Centreville, MD and Mark A. Mohn (Julie) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Ethan Mohn (Dani), Emma Mohn (Matt), Abby Leonard and Spencer Horseman (Emma); two great-grandchildren, Dash and Kip; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Messersmith and grandson Greg Leonard.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
